Plone System Administrator training (1 day)

This training is for organisations who manage their own information systems and websites and want to run the Plone site on their servers. Knowledge about the 'bottom' of the Plone CMS is vital to maintain high availability and to secure backup of your valuable content.

Beyond the realm of your visitors, content editors and webmaster, of course it is the technology that actually makes the site 'run'. System administrators should have thorough knowledge about the installation and technical management of your Plone CMS - dealing systematically with the addition of extensions and versioning of the configuration is part of their job.

Target group:

  • Plone Webmasters who want deeper knowledge about the management of their servers.
  • System administrators who are responsible for managing servers and who have Plone systems in their purview.

Required experience

  • A familiarity with the information from our "Plone Webmaster" training and an affinity for systems management
    • or: experience as system administrator in an organization
  • Have basic knowledge of command line interfaces for the Linux operating system

Your result

  • Independently create a Plone configuration on a Linux (virtual) server using Buildout
  • Backup and restore the content database of Plone
  • Install Add-on products for Plone in the system, to make available for a Webmaster
  • Check the Plone server for potential problems
  • Change the system settings for the application server via the Zope Management Interface

Material and Training
The training focuses on practical experience. By switching between theory and exercises you'll get familiar with the possibilities of Plone and you're not afraid to use it in daily work.

We provide a handout copy of the presentation and a free copy of the reference book A user's guide to Plone.

Location
Zest Software is located at Kaasmakerstraat 44 on the industrial Gadering in Hoogvliet. We have a training room for up to 8 participants. Training at your location is also possible.

Costs
The cost of this training is € 375, - excluding VAT per participant. This includes lunch in the style of a plowman's lunch. You can make unlimited use of coffee, tea and cold drinks. If we have less than 4 participants we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule the training session.
